Who we are

A landscape approach to resilience

SIMIA Consultancy & Research Ltd is a policy research and capacity-development organization dedicated to empowering local communities in marginal areas through locally led, community-driven interventions. We were established to empower pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities in Northern and Eastern Kenya.

Our holistic, landscape-level approach combines rigorous policy research, strategic advocacy, institutional strengthening and on-the-ground support to secure livelihoods, safeguard natural resources and build adaptive capacity in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs).

We engage, participate, influence, and implement initiatives that promote community resilience — with an emphasis on food and water security, natural resource management, and capacity building.
